2.9.1 AIRCRAFT GUIDE-IN SYSTEM (AGS)
|
Aircraft Guide-in System are installed at bay 12-32 in Kaohsiung Intl Airport (Excluding bay 26A)
-
Aircraft Guide-in Systems (AGS) are designed to guide pilots, to park aircraft on precise positions for easy access to bridges.
-
Aircraft Guide-in System operation instructions:
-
Aircraft type display: Face the light housing, and check whether the system has been set for your type of aircraft.
-
Round green start light: If the display shows correct aircraft type and the round green start light are on, you are entering the bay along the taxiing line.
-
Azimuth Guidance Unit: From the captain's seat, you will see the direction displacement indicating instrument (Azimuth Guidance Unit) below the light housing. If you see the center line on the Azimuth Guidance Unit, you are entering correctly. If the arrow shape appears, you are deviating to the direction of the taxi-in line. And you must steer to the direction of the arrow shape.
-
Round amber caution light: When you are 15FT from the parking position, the round amber caution light will come on, and the green light will go off. This indicates: you must reduce taxi speed.
-
Round red stop light: Stop taxiing when the red stop light come on and the amber light go off. This indicates: you are now in the parking position.
-
If any light fails to function, the whole system will shut down; then you have to stop taxiing and expect to be towed into the bay.

2.20.1 AIRPORT REGULATIONS
|
-
Aircraft ground maneuvering restrictions
-
Aircraft are not allowed to make a 180-degree turn without airport authority's approval when deviating or taxiing over the assigned parking bays. In this case, pilots should shut down or idle engines and inform tower for towing service.
-
Aircraft engine cross-bleed start-up procedure
-
Using increased power to start other engines on stands is prohibited.
-
Engine cross-bleed start-up approval must be obtained from Flight Operation Section of Airport Office in advance.
-
Engine cross-bleed start-up can only be performed on the TWY/TXL centre-line according to ATC push-back instructions, details are as follows:
-
Stand 11-18: Refer to Table 2-20-1.
-
Other stands: TWY A or TWY S
-
Civil aircraft (except helicopter) are not allowed to make turns with its own power when moving from apron to taxiway/taxilane.
-
Due to taxiway width limitation, AIRBUS A359 aircraft is only allowed to turn right to TWY S when vacate runway via TWY D.
-
Due to jet blast might affect adjacent apron or hangar, aircraft pushing back from parking bay 17 shall face west and from parking bay 12 shall face east.

Local flying restrictions

Aircraft approaching from the north of airport shall not enter airspace east of coastline before joining the final of RWY 09 or the downwind of RWY 27 while executing a visual approach to Kaohsiung International Airport.
-
The runway-in-use will not necessarily be aligned with the wind when wind velocity is 10 knots or less. Aircraft unable to comply with this restriction shall so advise ATC.

Kaohsiung international airport is designated as a special airport due to terrain and obstacles.

2.20.2 ATC CLEARANCE, START-UP, PUSH BACK AND TAXIING
|
Start-up, push back, and taxiing procedures for aircraft departing from Kaohsiung International Airport:
Aircraft departing from Kaohsiung International Airport shall comply with the following start-up, push back, and taxiing procedures. Aircraft shall not commence start-up, push back or other movements unless they have been approved by ATC.
-
ATC Clearance
-
Aircraft are to obtain ATC clearance via Datalink or by calling Kaohsiung Ground 5 minutes before start-up.
-
Aircraft are to call Kaohsiung Ground, giving their call sign, parking bay number, and proposed flight level.
-
An aircraft requesting an altitude occupied by an transit flight operating through the Taipei FIR may have to accept an alternate altitude or may have to delay its departure, in order for ATC to establish the prescribed separation.
-
Unless a restriction on departure time has otherwise been specified, aircraft that is not ready to push back within 5 minutes of receiving an ATC clearance may have its clearance withdrawn. In such a situation, ATC will inform the aircraft of the clearance cancellation plus the reason. Following the cancellation of an ATC clearance, aircraft will follow the normal clearance request procedure as if it is the first time they were ready to depart.

Start-up and Push Back
-
After receiving the ATC clearance, aircraft are to call Kaohsiung Ground for start-up and push back when ready.
-
Unless otherwise approved by ATC, departing aircraft, at the end of push back, must have all engines started and be ready to taxi to reduce the overall delay of traffic.
-
Taxiing
-
Unless otherwise approved by ATC, pilots shall not use runway for taxiing.
-
When ATC assign aircraft a takeoff runway, with a hold short instruction. ATC shall specify the runway, issue taxi instructions if necessary, and then state the hold short instructions.

2.20.3 TAXIING PROCEDURES DURING LOW VISIBILITY AT KAOHSIUNG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (FOR PILOTS' ATTENTION)
|

Definition of "LOW VISIBILITY": When RVR is below 750M.
-
Taxiing and FOLLOW ME guidance Route:
Unless otherwise when tower instructs a specific taxiing or FOLLOW ME guidance route the following routes will be issued during low visibility.

Departing aircraft using RWY 09:
-
From international and domestic aprons via TWY A.
-
From cargo aprons via TWY S and TWY A.
-
Arrival aircraft using RWY 09:
-
via TWY F and TWY S to cargo aprons.
-
via TWY F, TWY S and TWY G to domestic aprons.
-
via TWY F, TWY S, TWY G and TWY A to international aprons.
-
Departing aircraft using RWY 27:
-
from international aprons via TWY A, TWY G, TWY S and TWY F.
-
from domestic aprons via TWY G, TWY S and TWY F.
-
from cargo aprons via TWY S and TWY F.
-
Compulsory Reporting Position:
Aircraft shall initiatively report its position at the following intersections:
-
The intersection of TWY A and TWY S.
-
The intersection of TWY B and TWY S.
-
The intersection of TWY G and TWY S.
-
The intersection of TWY E and TWY S.
-
Procedures:
-
Stage-1 Low Visibility Procedures: When RVR descends to below 750M.
-
ATIS broadcasts "Stage-1 Low Visibility Procedures is in effect."
-
Pilots (or agents) may request for FOLLOW ME guidance.
-
Stage-2 Low Visibility Procedures: When RVR is below 550M.
-
ATIS broadcasts "Stage-2 Low Visibility Procedures is in effect."
-
FOLLOW ME guidance will be available at pilot’s request.
-
Only one aircraft is allowed to operate on either east or west maneuvering area of TWY G.

2.20.4 PARKING AND TAXIING PROCEDURES FOR BOEING B747-800
|

When parking bays 33, 34, 35 are assigned:

RWY 09 arrival: F - S - Parking bay 33, 34, 35

RWY 09 departure: Parking bay 33, 34, 35 - S - A
-
RWY 27 arrival: A - S - Parking bay 33, 34, 35

RWY 27 departure: Parking bay 33, 34, 35 - S - F

Aircraft taxiing along TWY S between TWY G and TWY A shall reduce speed to 10 KTS and maintain aircraft nose gear on taxiway centerline due to reduced wingtip clearance (13.3M) caused by obstacle on south side of TWY S.
-
Aircraft shall perform judgmental oversteering while turning into (another) taxiway to meet ICAO minimum clearance distance requirement between the outer main wheel and the edge of the taxiway.
-
Aircraft taxiing to the above area may request tower for FOLLOW ME guidance if necessary.

2.20.5 TAXIING PROCEDURES FOR A350-900, A350-1000, B787-10 AND B777-300ER
|
-
Aircraft shall perform judgmental oversteering while turning into (another) taxiway to meet ICAO minimum clearance distance requirement between the outer main wheel and the edge of the taxiway.
-
If taxiway A or B available, aircraft shall taxi via taxiway A or B instead of taxiway G, to avoid damaging the pavement.

RCKH AD 2.21 NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
|
|
To reduce noise at source and to lower impact to the neighborhood:
-
Curfew period: Due to noise abatement, take-off or landing is prohibited during the period from 16:01 to 22:30UTC except emergency.
-
Training flights
-
Foreign aircraft training is not allowed.
-
R.O.C aircraft training flights are only allowed to operate during 00:00-04:00 and 05:30-12:00UTC daily. Saturday, Sunday and holidays are excluded.
-
Aircraft departing from RWY 09 shall not commence right turn until passing RWY end.
-
Aircraft parking in cargo aprons shall turn off APU, use GPU instead.
